Compatibility Consultation
Bringing a new dog into your life is exciting, but it’s also a big decision.
A Compatibility Consult is designed to slow the process down, keep it grounded, and equip you with tools to choose wisely, for you and for your future dog.
This process isn’t simply about making the “right” choice for you. It’s also about giving a dog the best chance at lasting stability, and preventing the heartbreak of mismatches and re-homing.
My goal in a Compatibility Consult is to provide guidance and honest perspective, and sometimes, a necessary reality check.
I’ll help you look past the cute faces, breed prejudice, and emotional pull to see the big picture: how your household’s lifestyle aligns with a dog’s genetics, breed-specific needs and overall personality.
Think of me as a bridge between your heart and the long-term realities of inviting a dog into your life.
During a Compatibility Consult, you will:
Gain insight into how your household (people and pets) aligns with a dog’s LEGS® profile (Learning, Environment, Genetics, Self)
Collaborate with me in a shared Google Doc to review potential matches from shelters, rescues, or responsible breeders
Prepare your home and routines so you can welcome your new dog with confidence
Have the option to add three follow-up mediation sessions once your new dog arrives, helping to ease the transition and troubleshoot challenges in real time.

What to expect…
-

Honesty
Compatibility goes both ways. I’ll be upfront about what I see as a good fit for your lifestyle and household, and I’ll ask the same from you. You will need clear priorities, lifestyle needs and daily expectations.
-

Reality
It’s easy to get swept up in short-term emotions or a cute face, but choosing the right dog is a long-term decision. I’ll help you stay grounded, keeping your focus on what will truly work for the long-haul - for both you and the dog.
-

Patience
Every new relationship takes time. Letting go of rigid expectations and allowing space for a dog to settle in is key to building connection and trust. I offer additional guidance through the early days and weeks of transition so you can nurture a bond that grows day by day.
